LOBEL, NOVINS & LAMONT, LLP CLOSES ITS DOORS ON OCTOBER 16, 2022, 50 YEARS AFTER OPENING.

On October 16, 1972 Lobel, Novins & Lamont opened it doors. On October 16, 2022, fifty years to the day after opening its doors, Lobel, Novins & Lamont, LLP is closing its doors, although its individual lawyers may continue to be available to help you.

It has been an exciting time.: We represented hundreds of journalists in contract negotiations and defamation defense. We recovered literally billions of dollars in oil overcharges for 28 states and helped the State of California recover hundreds of millions of dollars in oil royalty payments. We helped defend consumer groups like Consumers Union and the National Consumers League from attacks by those they exposed. We helped Westinghouse break up the uranium cartel and helped Ernest & Young settle claims because they followed Reagan’s Regulatory Accounting Principals. We helped win unanimous decisions in the first four Supreme Court cases we worked on. We supported Marty who helped found Tax Analysts, now the preeminent source of information about taxes, and served as its Chairman for 48 of his 50 years on its Board. And, we argued in many forums for a return to capitalism by eliminating tax expenditures (subsidies) that have shifted so much of our income to the very richest.

While we had a lot of fun and hope we had a positive influence, time marches on. We are all getting older and it’s time to smell the roses and spend more time with our families and traveling.
